Key Points in Choosing a Wedding Gown and Tux that Highlight the Bride and the Groom

Getting married is a celebration, a momentous achievement celebrated. This is the time when couples get dressed (in their respective gowns and suits) to face everyone and be proclaimed as husband and wife. The sweet exchanges of “I do’s” is the most awaited part by everyone. Everything about it is so romantic that friends and families come to witness one of the highlights of the celebration. Aside from the romantic aspect of the wedding, what makes it beautiful is how people are dressed up formally. Look at the bride, she wears the finest gown with that fits perfectly on her. Her maid of honor and brides made look ultimately pretty with their long dresses. The groom can transform with his suit. The best man is as good looking as the groom is.

How do they select their clothes that it makes quite as a sight to look at? When they are put all together, they make a perfect shot for the camera and a wonderful scene in wedding pictures. The groom and the bride always is the center of the attention no matter how stunning the rest of the entourage will be. Now how do they do that? They just take these tips on how to select their dresses and suits in order to highlight the bride and the groom. As well as how to make the rest of the entourage look extremely beautiful and handsome.

Always select dresses wherein the bride can look elegantly beautiful at the same time comfortable. They should be able to breath in with the clothes that they choose. On top of that, their gowns should stand out, as she will be the main attraction of the wedding. Their gowns or dresses are typically in white but can have traces of bead works or colors depending on the preference of the bride.

The suit of the groom should be just right for the kind of body he has. It should not be too tight nor make him look to bulky. You can choose designs that bring out the colors of their eyes, something that brings out the masculinity in them or even take out their best forms. Grooms should look as stunning as the bride should.

The gowns of the maid of honor should be different from that of the brides maids. Most of the time, the color of their dresses or gowns are based on the motif of the wedding. Brides maids have uniform gowns.

Choosing a wedding suit for the best man can be done in the same manner as choosing for the groom. It should fit him well, make him look good and he should be comfortable with it. Use uniform materials to have unity of designs.

As much as possible choose clothing materials and colors that reflects the motif and theme of the wedding. If you have problems with the designs, take time to check out bridal magazines. If you hired a designer, then you can use his concepts and incorporate your personal ideas with their designs.

For the women: make sure to find matching shoes, wear hair, and make up perfect for the clothes. For the Gents: Keep their hair neat and wear shoes with designs that match the fabric of their clothing.

When the outfits are worn, everyone will be perfect for the wedding pictures and wedding video

Summary

Dressing up is also part of the wedding celebration. The key to choosing their outfit is to make sure that the bride and groom stands out among the beautiful entourage. At the same time, the entourage wears dresses that reflect the motif.

Wedding Photography: Getting to Know the Qualities of a Good Photographer

There are so many feelings evoked when you have a wedding celebration. Most of the time, you can feel love, passion, happiness and a sense of well-being. Everything looks pretty decent and pleasant to the eyes. However, seeing these things might not be evident to the guests. For the immediate family members, they can be overwhelmed with emotions. The bride and the groom may be nervous but happy at the same time. The father of the bride feels sad but more love for her daughter, as he will be setting her off to another man. The mothers of the couple getting excited looking this day onwards for a grandchild. These are some the feelings going on and may not be seen on the day but definitely, this what makes it extra special.

That is why photos make a good medium for capturing the celebrations of a wedding. They just do not capture poses at a certain angle but it is multi-dimensional. It can see what we cannot see and the emotions are real. A good photographer knows how to capture these moments. You will be surprised to find out seeing yourself in pictures without knowing the photographer took them. They also knows how to make a wedding photography that is beyond being fancy and pretty. At the end of the day the photographer is doing his job to only when he emphasizes you.

Now how does he do that? Here are some of the things that he does:

He lets the camera sit on a tripod and focuses it at his subject. This is where he gets a steady shot most specially in the ceremony part. It is easy to learn this but the challenge in here is how to focus on the subject.

He moves with the camera. The challenge in this part is how to move around without causing distractions to the guests. The photographer knows his way around and studies parts of the venue wherein he can roam around and still get quality shots.

He knows when to use two cameras. Once he has a vision on how the photo presentation should be like, he knows exactly the scenes that are needed. However, one body cannot be at two places at the same time. He also covers the wedding personally and not hire some substitute. He ensures that he will be there on the special day to make sure everything goes as planned.

He never forgets to bring a supplies. He knows where to put them so they are out of the way and so they don’t distract from the atmosphere of the celebrations.

He does not need a director to get the shots that he needs for the wedding photography. He can see the beauty in the spontaneity of things. He can work with angles on his own and find it on his own.

Lastly, he does not slack off. You see him all the time getting busy on your wedding day. He follows anything that is good without hesitations and he only takes a break when he can.

Summary

Therefore, every time you look at your photos, and you are satisfied with it, know that you have a good photographer doing his job. If he does all of these things, most likely he is exerting his very best to cover every inch of your wedding to ensure your satisfaction.

An Overview of Wedding Invitation Etiquette

A wedding invitation is a printed letter that asks the recipient to attend a very personal affair. While it does not matter what style invitation you choose to use, whether it be traditional or modern, there are a few etiquette rules that should be followed. In past years, wedding invitations were only issued by the bride’s parents, who were incidentally paying for the entire wedding. It is important to note that as years have passed, and times have changed, etiquette has as changed slightly as well.

Traditionally, formal wedding invitations have always been on a white or ivory card, complete with black script. These days, many couples prefer to use different colored fonts and papers to further coordinate with their wedding theme. As far as etiquette goes, there are no firm rules when it comes to the style and design of the invitation, which you must follow. Rather, couples are encouraged to reflect their personalities, tastes, and wedding theme into a beautiful invitation that they can proudly send to their friends and family. Also a tradition of the past, it is no longer necessary to include tissue paper with your invitation package. In past years, the tissue paper was included to prevent the ink on the invitation from smudging.

It is very important that certain information be included in your wedding invitation. Along with both of your names and both of your parents’ names, you want to include the date and time of the ceremony and the exact location of where it is being held. If the reception that follows is being held at an alternate location, that location should be included as well on the invitation. Many couples choose to include directions in the invitation package, especially for the guests that are coming from out of town. A reply card, complete with a stamped and addressed return envelope, will ensure that your guests RSVP promptly. Proper etiquette encourages you to make a politely worded phone call to the guests who do not RSVP by the date given. Included in the invitation package can also be a menu card regarding the guests’ menu choice for dinner.

Other optional details include wording such as “no children” or “adult reception,” if you do not want any children attending your wedding. It is also acceptable to include guidelines on your invitation as to how your wedding guests should dress. Whether your affair will be black tie, business formal, or informal, you should consider including this information to ensure that your guests dress appropriately for the event. It is important, however, that your wedding invitations do not include any requests for gifts or any registry information.

In regards to addressing the envelopes of your wedding invitations, many couples wonder how to properly address the guests who are involved in non-traditional relationships. For example, if a couple is living together but are not married, they should still receive one invitation that is addressed to the both of them. Their names should appear in alphabetical order on the front of the envelope.

In another situation, if two of your guests are roommates, and not a couple, they should each receive their own invitations. If one of your wedding guests is single but plan on bringing a date, try to find out the date’s name in advance so that you may address them by properly on the envelope instead of as “guest.” A widow should be addressed as their married name, and children over eighteen that are still living with their parents should receive their own wedding invitation.

While many couples choose to use professionally designed and printed wedding invitations, another popular option is do it yourself invitations. Designing your own invitations is easier than you may think, and various web sites and software packages are available to assist you. Handmade invitations are personal and acceptable unless you are planning to have an ultra-formal wedding. A calligrapher or someone who possesses beautiful handwriting would be an ideal candidate for writing out these unique invitations.

If you are ordering your invitations from a retailer, it is very important to proof read and check everything before finalizing the order. You do not want to have your names misspelled, or to give your guests the wrong date or time.

When it comes to addressing the envelopes to your guests, you can either use printed address labels that sport the same font style and color found on the invitation, or you can choose to make your envelopes more formal and personal by handwriting the addresses. While this process can be somewhat time-consuming, if you enlist the services of friends, family, or a calligrapher, it can be done in no time. A general rule of thumb followed is that if you send out two hundred or more invitations, your envelopes can be addressed with printed labels that have a scripted font. If you are sending out invitations to less than two hundred people, strongly consider handwriting the envelopes.

It is very important to send your wedding invitations to your guest at the proper time. You do not want to wait to the last minute to send them out, when guests might already have plans. Ideally, invitations should be mailed out around three months before the actual wedding date. This will allow your guests to arrange to take time off of work and to make necessary travel arrangements. If you are requesting that your guests RSVP, you should ask them to do so by a specific date several weeks before the wedding. This will allow you to have an accurate head count for the caterer and venue.

The Perfect Wedding Cake

How to Choose Your Perfect Cake

Your wedding cake is an important element to your wedding celebrations. Many couples use their wedding cake as the focal point of their reception, so it will need to look fabulous & taste fantastic. Here is some guidance on choosing your perfect wedding cake.

Find your cake style

Traditionally wedding cakes are multi-tiered & covered in white icing. This remains a popular choice today; however the designs & icings get ever more creative & elaborate. Take a look through magazines & online to get an idea of the style that appeals to you most. You may choose a traditional tiered cake with pillars or without, a stunning display of cupcakes, a luxurious chocolate cake or something more novel.

Seek out the talent

When you have an idea of the shape you want your cake to take, start looking for someone to create it for you. As ever recommendations from friends & family is a good place to start or ask your venue if they can recommend someone. Bridal fayres offers you the chance to see cakes in ‘the flesh’ & even have a taste. When you start looking for a cake designer, look for one that specializes in your particular choice of cake, some may be able create fabulous traditional cakes but not a novel cake with intricate decoration.

Choose the flavors

Fruit is the traditional choice for wedding cakes & although still popular, flavored sponge cakes are increasing in popularity. You can choose to have various flavors applied to the plain sponge mix such as lemon or honey. If your have chosen a tiered cake you can have a different flavor for each tier. This is particularly good advice if some of your guests have special dietary requirements. If you choose a sandwich style cake you can also go to town on the fillings such as fruit combinations, cream cheese or chocolate.

Decide on the decoration

The decoration is probably the bit you have given most thought to & will co-ordinate with the rest of your chosen wedding scheme. Traditionally the wedding cake was iced to match the brides dress. Fresh flowers are still a popular choice & you can ask you florist to create to some small arrangements for you cake. Edible flowers can look very impressive & a good designer can make flowers that you will have trouble tell apart from the real thing. A good designer will be able to guide you & come up with a stunning design for your cake, try & furnish them with as much detail as possible about your dress, color schemes & venue.

Top it off

They may have been out of favor in recent years, but cake toppers are making a comeback. The traditional cake topper was a plastic version of the bride & groom, but modern toppers are far more sophisticated. Whimsical toppers, fondant characters of the bride & groom & even elaborate crowns are just some of the options available. Other toppers will match your theme such as snowflakes, or you may go for glamour & have your monogram made up to sit on top of your cake.

Check it for size

You may design a fabulous cake but will it be big enough to feed all your guests? Once the third course is over, hopefully all your guests will be full so you don’t need to serve up large portions. Your cake designer will be able to tell you how big your cake needs to be ensuring sufficient for all & on the portion size. As a general rule a 10″ cake will serve around 70 guests. A square cake is a more economical choice as there is no wastage when cutting, unlike with a round cake. If your budget is tight, have a decorated cake on display at the reception & smaller plain cakes or cutting cakes, in the kitchen for your guests.

Think about presentation

As you will have spent all that effort in designing your beautiful cake it would be a shame to let it down by bad presentation. Place it on a table on it’s own & perhaps add some flower petals or candles to showcase it perfectly. Place it somewhere it can be seen by your guests & not tucked away in a corner.

Save some for later!

Traditionally the top tier of the cake was saved for the christening of your first child. However this only works if the cake is made from fruit & hasn’t been cut into. After the wedding wraps it well & store in an air-tight container. When you come to use it strip away all the icing & ‘feed’ it with brandy to moisten it, and then re-ice. It is worth remembering that after a long period of time your cake may not taste as good as it did on your wedding day & so you may decide to enjoy it on your wedding day & forgo tradition.

Hot Wedding Colours For 2009

Our homes generally set the trend for forthcoming wedding colour schemes along with the seasonal catwalk trends in current fashion styles.

And so the question on every bride & wedding planner's lips is, 'What will be the hot wedding colour trends for 2009?'

2007 and 2008 have seen our brides showcasing the following colour trends; Soft Greens with White, Lilac with Purple tones, Chocolate Brown and anything in Monochrome Black & White. These colours have been so popular and may still continue into 2009 weddings & events, though an explosion in fresher, brighter colours is more likely.

In contrast to the softer more subtle shades of last year, the forthcoming trends for 2009 will be far more exotic, brightly coloured and - believe it or not - almost luminous! Now before you start to panic, you do not need to go for anything too ghastly or too dominating. However, any bride who wishes to strut her stuff in style in 2009 needs to make a bold splash of colour if she wishes to remain in-line with other fashionistas!

So, how do you get a subtle colour splash into your big day without going overboard? Well, the key is to keep the main areas understated and classic. In other words, keep the bridal gown classical and elegant; choose carefully coordinated bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen outfits. You can then go for broke with table accessories, place settings, floral arrangements, venue decor and the trimmings on your wedding cake.

Look out for big tropical colour schemes focusing around Turquoise and Bright Yellow Shades. Mix these colours in with a tropical wedding theme. Bold favour boxes trimmed with yellow and blue ribbons and coordinating place settings will give guests the illusion of the heady climes of the tropics! Ask your florist about introducing a splash of these colours into floral centrepieces and co-ordinate with wedding cake trims.

Making a comeback this year will also be Bright Orange colour schemes. These will work really well when coupled with softer peach tones and the occasional shocking orange splash. You could dot bright orange cameras and bright orange petals about your reception tables for maximum effect. Tie peach favour boxes with bright orange ribbon and introduce Orange Gerberas or Tiger Lilies into bridal bouquets and floral centrepieces.

Pinks are always in fashion when it comes to wedding style, but as 2009 is all about making a statement, strong, luminous pinks are the shades to go for. As before, keep dresses and bridal party outfits classical and think about introducing the pink tones into reception decor. A great way to get bright luminous pink into your event is by having a cup-cake wedding cake. Each mini-cake can be tiered to give the effect of an all-encompassing wedding cake, yet a retro luminous pink icing and a fancy motif topping will give each cake a trendy feel. Mini cakes are also a massive hit with younger guests and some wedding cake specialists are able to make individual cakes to cater for various food intolerance which are worth knowing. Floral arrangements can be kept white and interspersed with bright pink feathers and coordinating ribbon.

So, whether you are having a tantalisingly tropical event, an outrageous orange occasion or a pretty pink affair, anyone who's anyone in 2009, will definitely be hosting a bright, bold, beautiful and full-of-colour wedding!

DIY Wedding Invitations for Beach Weddings

There are plenty of professional beach wedding invitations that you can purchase, but if you are trying to come in under budget and would like to add a special touch, then DIY wedding invitations are the way to go.

This article will cover a few ideas to get you started making your own invites, but you will probably come up with even more ideas as you read. The idea here is to keep things very simple, yet beautifully done. Be sure to enlist the help of your bridesmaids when making the invitations.

Sandy Memories

This is one DIY wedding invitation that can be done very quickly and easily. You will need light blue cardstock, a custom stamp with your wedding information on it, embossing ink and brown or sand colored embossing powder, as well as a heat source, such as a blow dryer.

This works best done assembly line style, one person should do the stamping, the next sprinkles powder and shakes it off and the third person can heat it to set the embossing powder. To really set things off, you may wish to add embossed blue waves at the bottom of the card, starfish or even seaweed along the edge. Or you could punch holes in the upper left corner of each card and use a string or ribbon to tie a small seashell charm to the card.

Starfish Invites

These DIY wedding invitations are a little more time consuming because you will need to cut out the shapes, unless you can find a die cutter that is the right size for this. You will need beige or ivory cardstock, folded in half and cut so that two arms of the starfish fall on the fold. Essentially you will have two starfish that are attached by the folded arms.

It really is useful to get a stamp made up with all your wedding information. While this may seem a little costly, it will save you hours of work.

Alternatively, you could carefully print everything on the computer and then cut out your starfish.

Add a little glue and some sparkling sand around the outline on the front of the starfish invitation and you're done.

Message in a Bottle

To really take the beach wedding theme to extremes, these DIY wedding invitations are particularly fun. You will need a small bottle for each invitation, about 3" long and 1" wide, more or less, as well as corks for each one and a piece of parchment paper.

Write, print or stamp your invitation information on a rectangle of paper, roll it up and push it into the bottle, then cork it. If you want to add a little extra oomph, try sprinkling some sand in the bottle or even drop in a couple of starfish or shell charms or beads before corking. You can also decorate the outside of the bottle with ribbons and charms, if desired.

These are just a few DIY wedding invitations to give you an idea of what is possible. It's amazing what you can do with some pretty paper, a little embossing powder and several friends in an evening!

A Guide to Wedding Cake Frosting

Next to the bridal gown, the wedding cake is perhaps the most detail intensive element of planning your event. It will take days if not weeks before the future bride can choose the exact design and color of her cake. On top of this, it may take her forever to decide the cake frosting to be used by her baker.

This is the reason why you need to get a reputable baker so they can make intelligent suggestions as to which frosting would be best for the chosen cake design. You may know a thing or two about cakes but only those who have experienced in decorating them can tell you the pros and cons of using a specific frosting. Here are some of the types of cake frosting commonly used today.

Butter cream

Butter cream is a very versatile ingredient because it can be used both as a filling and a frosting. Bakers prefer this frosting because it is easy to color depending on the motif of the wedding. It is also easy to come up with various designs using this frosting. The only problem is that it can easily melt especially if the temperature is not controlled so watch out for butter cream if you are holding an outdoor reception.

Fondant

If you have seen satin smooth cakes that look perfect even if shaped like a gift, flower or anything at all then most probably it has been designed using fondant. Fondant icing is picture perfect and no one can argue with that. However, it does not taste as delicious as the other icing and some would even say it tastes bad. Some bakers however have a trick of using butter cream beneath the fondant to give it a really nice flavor.

Marzipan

This is a favorite among bakers as it tastes good and can be made to look like fondant icing. Marzipan contains sugar, eggs and crushed almonds making it a very tasty topping. However, using marzipan can be very expensive so be prepared for your wallet to take a hit.

Royal icing

This is perhaps the cheapest frosting anyone can use for a wedding cake. It can also produce picture perfect cakes with very intricate designs. Royal icing is actually a very hard frosting so there is seldom need to refrigerate it. You can have your baker create miniature cakes for you using some of the frosting you are interested in and then you can taste them and decide which one will look and taste the best.

Personalized Pint Glasses Or Champagne Glasses For Wedding Party Favors

So, you're getting married. Now you need to figure out what wedding party favors you are going to give away. Two good ideas are personalized pint glasses and champagne glasses. Both are beautiful glassware that you can get inexpensively, but they are high in quality. There is nothing better than knowing you are giving a great gift to your guests that they will treasure.

Personalized pint glasses are wedding party favors that will put fun into your wedding reception. Imagine how surprised your guests will be when they find custom printed pint glasses waiting for them at their tables. They'll see your names, the date of your wedding, and a nice design on the side of the pint glasses. This will serve as a reminder of your special day. Your guests can keep the glasses as keepsakes and use them in their homes. Whenever they use them, other people will see them and ask about the wedding. Your wedding will be the talk of the town!

Personalized champagne glasses are wedding party favors that add a touch of elegance and charm to your wedding reception. These beautiful glasses can be filled before guests arrive at the reception, ready to be toasted with. When the first toast is made, the guests will lift their custom printed champagne glasses and honor your new marriage. These, too, will have your names, the date of your wedding, and a special design. And, guests will be able to fill their glasses anytime they please during the reception. Plus, these also can be taken home as keepsakes.

Another idea instead of filling up the personalized pint glasses or champagne glasses with a beverage is to fill them out with candy coated almonds. These are traditionally given with wedding party favors and are nice because you color coordinate them according to your wedding theme. Another thing you can fill the glasses with are colored mints. These, too, can be color coordinated to match your wedding theme.

Personalized pint glasses and champagne glasses are the perfect wedding party favors. One adds fun and one adds elegance. It's your choice as to what kind of wedding reception you want. Perhaps you want to be a bit casual about your wedding reception, then go with the pint glasses. Or, you want a more sophisticated wedding reception, then go with the champagne glasses. Whatever you choose, people are sure to be happy with what you give them.

You bridesmaids and maid of honor have been very supportive to you.
From planning and preparing your wedding day to making you feel fine during your down times, these are the people who truly deserve your thanks and appreciation.

They worked hand and hand to make your bridal shower memorable, so to thank them, why not give them the best thank you gifts?

Yes, choosing for the best attendants gifts can be a bit tricky sometimes, but if you have planned it well, things will be a lot easier for you.

The first thing you need to take into account is the budget. Make sure to set a budget first before buying anything in order not to overspend your savings.

Remember, there are so many great choices that are available to choose from, and it is so easy to get carried away without thinking that you are actually overspending your money over gifts.

The cost of gift for your maid of honor must be a bit high than of bridesmaids, because her responsibilities are much difficult than bridesmaids. On the other hand, you may shop gifts of the same price for each of your bridesmaids.

Consider their personal preferences. One best way to make sure that they will like your gifts is to shop according to their personal preferences. Consider their likes, dislikes, hobbies and personalities.

Wedding Tradition - Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

You have probably heard the popular wedding tradition saying before, but not every bride to be knows exactly where it originated from or what the meaning behind the saying is. It is a darling saying and is one of the only wedding traditions in today's society which makes some sense. It is a cute tradition - one which is performed to bring good luck to the newlywed couple.

The traditional saying is:

Something old, something new

Something borrowed, something blue

And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

A sixpence is a coin that was minted in Britain from 1551 to 1967. It was made of silver and worth six pennies. This wedding tradition can be traced back to England, and many sources say that it began sometime in the Victorian Era. Each item in this sort poem represents a good luck token for the bride - if she carries them, it is said her marriage will have good fortune.

Something Old: The old item has several different meanings, but one general theme: a link of continuity from the bride's past. Some say this is a desire to remain connected with your family even after you established a family of your own. Other sources say it represents the life you are leaving behind. Another idea is that the tradition of family values and the connection family brings is being passed down to you. It is safe to say that all of these assumptions are correct; the bride is leaving behind her past to start a new beginning, but not to forget where she has been. Things you can use for the something old theme are: jewelry from your mother, grandmother or great-grandmother, an old wedding photo from your family, a love letter from your father to your mother, a picture of your parents in your purse, an old handkerchief, a childhood pillow to hold your rings, a piece of lace sewn into the hem of your gown.

Something New: means optimism and hope for the future. It conveys the message that you and your husband are creating a new union that will endure the test of time. Many brides choose to use their wedding gown, flowers or rings to symbolize the "something new" in this tradition.

Something Borrowed: Again, there are several meanings behind borrowing an item from a friend or relative. Some sources say borrowing something is borrowing happiness from a happily married woman, so that their happiness will carry over to the new bride. Other sources have said it is symbolizes the love and adoration you have for the person from whom you have borrowed the item from. If you borrow an item from your happily married grandmother or mother, you can fulfill both of these meanings. Doing this lets your parents (or grandparents) know that you admire their marriage and the respect they have for each other and that you hope to have an equally happy marriage. The borrowed item also signifies to the bride that she can always count on her friends and family for support. Items that can be used for the something borrowed theme could be: family jewelry, a prayer book from your mother or grandmother, strands of pearls, or your parent's cake cutting set.

Something Blue: The color blue has been connected to weddings for centuries as a symbol of love, modesty, fidelity, good luck, purity and loyalty. Many brides incorporate this color into their clothing, by either wearing a blue stoned jewelry item or wearing a blue garter. However for a modern spin, you could use blue toe nail polish, blue eye shadow, a blue ribbon tied into your flowers, blue underwear, even wear light blue shoes! The possibilities are endless and limited only by your imagination.

A Lucky Sixpence: A sixpence in the bride's shoe represents wealth and financial security. For optimum fortune, the sixpence should be worn in the left shoe. This tradition may date back to the Scottish tradition of the groom placing a silver coin in his shoe for good luck. Many companies sell keepsake sixpence pieces for weddings.

Brides have been honoring the something old, new borrowed, blue tradition for centuries. Although these items are supposed to bring good luck to the bride, many brides are following this tradition to honor people close to them on their wedding day.
